On Friday Oct 15th, I was invited to speak at the World Photography Festival, an event which invited the leading photojournalists, fine art and commercial photographers of China. The event took place at the posh Bund18, which offered a beautiful setting for this new photography event. In total, several hundred attendants of all circles of the industry made it to the event.
The panel discussion I took part in had the topic “Marketing & Commercial Photography in China – The International Exchange”. Besides our host Scott Thode (editor of VII photo magazine), Steven Harris (director m97 Gallery, Shanghai), Yao Lu (Professor, School of Design at The Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing) and me talked about strategies and what it takes to succeed within local and foreign photography markets.
Watch the first 5-6 minutes of the panel discussion below.
On the same day, I took part in The Portfolio Workshop. We reviewed and gave advise to four photographers, on how to assemble their portfolios and tailor each portfolio depending on who they are presenting to.
